About Ruth

Ruth Pemberton started raising chickens the way most people do: three fluffy chicks, a prefab coop, no real plan, and a hawk problem she did not know she had until week six.

She writes practical beginner guides for the person she used to be: someone with contradictory advice, a flock to keep alive, and a need for one honest book.

Ruth lives outside Knoxville, Tennessee, with her husband, two kids, a herding-mix farm dog, and the flock that taught her most of what she writes.
